Harvest Feast is a 500-piece puzzle from Galison, and the artist is Kathryn Selbert. I fell in love with this image when I saw it on Instagram a few weeks ago and starting tracking it on ebay until I found one that had a price I was happy with.
I am so glad I got it. It is such a charming image with all of the adorable woodland creatures sharing a feast together. I especially like the little mouse standing on a ladder so he can reach the table.
The only downside was that the pieces had a weird feel to them. It is hard to describe, but it was almost kind of oily. It was unusual for this brand to be unpleasant, so I’m not sure what happened. I still enjoyed the puzzle, but it was odd.

The image is adorable. I’ve noticed that Galison’s puzzle pieces have gotten thinner and do not feel comfortable to put together anymore. Also, they are so hard to take apart, the knobs start to break. Sometimes people are angry when they get a puzzle second hand and it has not been taken apart. I really think this has to do with the puzzle. Some are so hard to take apart and we risk breaking pieces that we give up. Sad, because Galison has so many wonderful images. I just bought two at Marshall’s, Xmas ones, I’ve done one of them and the pieces were not good, really thin.

Yes, they are definitely hard to take apart. The last couple of theirs that I did, I had to break down piece by piece, which was very annoying. I used to have a very positive feeling towards Galison, but I am shifting away from that now, I think.

Yes, me too. Someone had complained about getting a lovely Galison at a thrift store. They were upset when they opened the box to see most of the puzzle still put together. Well… after I tried to take several puzzles apart and not break the points, I understood why. It’s just too much work. A shame, because they have beautiful puzzles. I guess I should send them a message. If enough people complain, they’ll go back to the old manufacturer. I’m sure costs are not easy these days for anything.

It is a shame. Maybe I’ll see if I can send them some feedback as well.
