Colorful Harvest

Colorful Harvest is a 300-piece puzzle from Ceaco, and the artist is Tracy Flickinger. I have done several of her puzzles and really enjoy her style. The quality of this one was good, which was nice because Ceaco can be hit or miss.

I took this puzzle with me to Thanksgiving at Renee’s house. I thought the image was appropriate to the holiday and also though the smaller piece count would be good for the time we had available. Renee and I were about 75% done when our friend Mike showed up, and he joined us to finish the puzzle.

I liked this puzzle a lot and will definitely redo it sometime by myself to enjoy it even more.

Trick or Treat Hotel

Trick or Treat Hotel is a 1000-piece puzzle from Buffalo Games, and the artist is Charles Wysocki. I purchased this several months ago and have been holding onto it for Halloween puzzling. My friend Suzanne was over one night and helped me get it started. She did the border, which she loves doing, and I started on the house.

It took me a few days of puzzling to finish this one, mainly because the colors are so dark and similar to each other. I figured that would happen going into it, though, so I wasn’t upset by it. I really loved putting the house together. The rest was okay, but the house was great.

Happy Halloween!!

Welcome to Spooky Town

Welcome to Spooky Town is a 500-piece puzzle from Mudpuppy, and the artist is Stephanie Birdsong. I picked it up because it was such a fun Halloween image, and it did end up being a lot of fun to put together.

I have always liked Halloween, even though I don’t really decorate for it. I always enjoyed taking my son trick or treating, and I also enjoyed the times I got to hand out candy. Now that my son is grown, he really enjoys handing out candy to trick or treaters as well. The last couple of years, he has done that at his dad’s house because they get a lot of kids in that area.

Toadstool Cottage

Toadstool Cottage is a 300-piece puzzle, and the company is listed on Amazon as Nichpedr.

This was such a unique puzzle. The pieces appear to be very thin wood, and they have a matte finish. There are letters on the back to assist with sorting, but I did not use them given the low piece count. It took a bit of effort to click the pieces into place, but the upside was that there were no false fits. You can pick up the finished puzzle easily because of how tightly it fits together.

The box was very plain with just a sticker of the image on the box. There was a nice sized poster and a zipper top resealable bag. It was a risk ordering from an unknown puzzle company, so I was very pleased with how it turned out.

Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival is a 500-piece puzzle from Cobble Hill, and the artist is Nancy Wernersbach. I enjoyed it a lot. It does come in 1000 pieces, but I think I am happy with the one that I did since there is a lot of detail.

This image just has so much to like in it – a covered bridge, colorful quilts, autumn fruits and vegetables, and various other cozy elements. And of course, there are signs with words on them – always a treat!

Hitting the Road

Hitting the Road is a 1000-piece puzzle from Cobble Hill, and the artist is Mary Lake-Thompson. This was my first puzzle from the Cobble Hill brand. I love the subject matter as it is a combination of a collage with images of campers and other vehicles. It is a fun design with a lot of interesting elements.

Their puzzles are random cut, but it is not as hard as the previous random cut puzzle I did from Goodway Puzzles. None of these pieces were tiny or super weird in shape, so it made for a good puzzling experience. I will definitely be doing this brand again!

When I was finished, I asked Michael what his favorite scene was. He said Into the Woods because of the bear and the fox. My favorite is either Fall Fun or Holidays.

Pete’s Gambling Hall

Pete’s Gambling Hall is a 1000-piece Buffalo Games puzzle featuring the artist Charles Wysocki. His images are plentiful in the puzzling world, but this is only the second puzzle of his that I have done.

I got this second-hand and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the pieces were there. It’s always a gamble (pun intended!) when you get a puzzle that has already been done before.

There were a number of false fits, and I had to move pieces around several times. Other than that, the quality was good. I appreciated that there wasn’t too much of the sky and mountains because those were the hardest parts to solve.

All in all, a very fun puzzle! I enjoy putting together buildings, so this had a nice variety for me.

A Trio of Puzzles

I was so happy with the way my last puzzle turned out that I decided to do some of the puzzles I had been loaned from my ex-husband’s girlfriend. This weekend I actually completed three of them.

The first one was Peddlin’ Posies by Cardinal, which is a 500 piece puzzle. The artist is Mary Irwin. It’s a charming scene of a flower cart in front of a window. There were a few sections that were a bit challenging, but overall it wasn’t too bad.

The second one was Moonlight Serenity from Bits and Pieces. This one is a 300 piece puzzle, which was a first for me. The artist is Larry Jones. The low piece count and really large pieces made it super easy, so even though it wasn’t a design I would have normally picked out, I enjoyed putting it together.

The third puzzle I did was Afternoon Tea, also by Bits and Pieces. This one was a 500 piece puzzle, and the artist was Tracy Hall. I felt like the pieces were still pretty big and the puzzle was fairly easy to put together. I did it all in one sitting, which did make my back hurt a bit, but I really wanted to get it done before the weekend was over.

I haven’t decided which puzzle to do next. I still have two more loaner puzzles, but I’m not sure if I want to do them or not. I may do one of the puzzles from my Christmas/birthday haul. I have four puzzles waiting to be done, and they are all 1000 pieces, so will be a bit more challenging than these were.
