Holiday Stamps/Holiday Village/Merry Market

Holiday Stamps is a 550-piece puzzle from White Mountain, and the artist is Lois B. Sutton. I have had this on my shelf for almost a year and was so excited to finally get to do it! I just love seeing so many different holiday stamps that have been issued over the years. Each one is special in its own way. I did this one on December 23rd.

Holiday Village is a 1000-piece puzzle from 1canoe2. I love this brand, and this was another great puzzle from them! I love the color scheme, especially all the greens and pinks. I worked this puzzle Christmas Eve and Christmas Day while watching some of my favorite movies.

Merry Market is a 1000-piece puzzle from Galison, and the artist is Joy LaForme. This was a lot of fun to put together with the market stalls and the row of buildings in the back. The colors are beautiful, and the foil accents add a special holiday touch. I started this one Christmas Day and finished it the day after Christmas.

Winterfest

Winterfest is a 550-piece puzzle from Vermont Christmas Company, and the artist is Randy Wollenmann. I actually won this puzzle in a contest over on Reddit, so I was pretty happy to get it!

I have only done one other puzzle from this brand. It was another holiday puzzle called Camping for Christmas, and I did it in December 2022, which was the first year I did Christmas puzzles. (I started puzzling in June 2021.)

I find this image so charming, and I love the idea of drinking cider or cocoa while watching the children skate on the ice. The quality is decent, although there is a fair amount of puzzle dust and the pieces aren’t as crisp as some other brands are.

Aeries for Canaries

Aeries for Canaries is a 550-piece puzzle from Ceaco, and the artist is Jane Wooster Scott. I believe this is the second puzzle of hers that I have done, and I picked it up at Community Aid.

This was an enjoyable puzzle to do. It was missing one piece, which is more common with thrifted puzzles. The image was also lifting off the backing, mainly on the knobs. I tried not to make it any worse, but I did keep catching the edges on my hand. Also, I wasn’t able to run my hands over the puzzle when it was finished – IYKYK!

Birthday Mayhem

Birthday Mayhem is a 550-piece puzzle from Ceaco. The artist is Jane Wooster Scott, whose artwork reminds me of Joseph Holodook. I think this is the first puzzle I have done of hers.

This puzzle was a thrift store find. The only place I could find the title was in the lower left corner of the puzzle itself, which I thought was a bit odd. I enjoyed the bottom part more than the top, as the trees and sky were tedious. I would not have enjoyed this in a larger piece count, but in this size it was okay.

Steeped in Tradition

Today’s puzzle is Steeped in Tradition, a 550 piece puzzle by Ceaco. I received this puzzle from a friend who got it while she was helping another friend clean out his dad’s house after he had passed away. It had belonged to his mom, who had passed some years earlier. I knew going in that it was missing two pieces, as she had written the information on the back of the box, as shown in the picture below.

After doing the border and a couple of small sections from the middle, I moved the puzzle to our sunroom to be safe from our dog Baxter while we were out of the house. However, I got sidetracked and left the sunroom door open, so he got to it anyway. I ended up losing a corner piece and a few of the border pieces. I have no idea where they went, so I’m guessing he ate them!

I let the puzzle sit for quite a while before finally deciding to tackle it. I was worried it would be hard because the colors were so muted, but it wasn’t too bad and I actually enjoyed it. The other day my friend who had given me the puzzle came over and helped me finish it. By that point, I had progressed to sorting the pieces by shape and was working one by one to figure out where each piece fit. With two of us working on it, we got it done fairly quickly. Here is the finished puzzle:

You can see the two original missing pieces as well as the pieces Baxter got a hold of along the bottom edge. I still think it is a charming puzzle, though. I probably won’t keep it to redo since so many pieces are gone now, but I’m glad I got the chance to do it once.

Next up are some puzzles that were lent to me by, of all people, my ex-husband’s girlfriend. She has sent five puzzles home with my son. I’m not sure if I’ll do all of them, but I will likely do at least a couple.
